The 1.4 miles long Rottenwood Creek Trail in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is an ideal destination for families with school-aged children. Expect to pay $5 for an all-day parking pass. This is a busy area on weekends, so consider visiting during the week or carpool with another family. Located 13 miles northwest of Atlanta, this entire trail system is 61.5 miles long. This urban rail trail is part of the PATH Atlanta project. Park hours are from sunrise to sunset, unless otherwise posted. You may even get the chance to spot a deer along the creek or several varieties of mushrooms that grow near the trail. This well-known trail is heavily trafficked and is perfect for all ages and skill levels. This 223 acre park offers a forested, 3.1 mile unpaved loop and clean restrooms. Simpsonwood Park is right in the neighborhood at Jones Bridge Circle Northwest. That way, the little ones don’t get restless on the drive.
